ANDRII

VOLKOV

Andrii Volkov finds structure in ordinary surfaces and urban traces. Scratches in plaster, worn edges of pavement, rust, dust and residue become a working vocabulary. Rather than chasing polish, he looks for presence: a mark that holds time, a surface that keeps memory. In the studio these fragments are studied, edited and layered until the image reads as both found and made. The result is painting that privileges the life of the surface and the quiet charge of materials that have already lived.

Volkov’s approach extends to tattoo. Modern tools are used to translate transient marks into steady, legible forms on skin. He works with restraint, keeping contrast simple and the composition responsive to the site, so that movement sets the final rhythm. He gives prominence to the beauty of simple things oft-overlooked, inviting viewers to slow down and see what remains in plain sight.

“Every painting has its own story,” Volkov says. “I leave a piece of myself in each of them.”
