AGNES HAYDEN

Agnes Hayden (b. 1988; based in Linz, Austria) works across aquarelle and tattoo, treating water as an active partner. Her compositions turn on contrast and mirroring, carried by the refrain “as above, so below.” She focuses on how control and flow meet on the page; edges tighten where needed and passages are left to breathe.

She paints broadly, then recomposes fragments for the body with open intervals and durable contrast so forms remain legible after healing. Those choices return to the studio and sharpen how she sets edge, spacing, and movement. The images often resolve through tension rather than narrative, with strict structure and liquid wash sharing one field.

Trained at HBLA für künstlerische Gestaltung and raised around Arthur and Waltraud Viehböck’s public sculpture, Hayden keeps material and site central to how she thinks about surface, scale, and permanence.
